Howscales CottagesHowscales was originally built as a working farm during the middle of the 17th century. All the buildings are constructed using the local red Lazonby sandstone, both for the walls and the traditional sandstone tiled roof. The barns and byres have been painstakingly converted into self-contained cottages, each with their own character, and retaining many of the original features like the oak beams. All are light and airy and provide guests with wonderful views. There are four cosy well equipped cottages at Howscales, set around a central cobbled courtyard and surrounded by beautiful gardens, lawns, and open countryside. All the cottages have central heating. The bedrooms are individually furnished and all have comfortable beds with 10.5tog duvets and white linen. All curtains have been handmade and reflect the individual style of each room. The kitchens are equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave, toaster etc. Everything you may need for that special meal. The lounge areas have pine furniture and comfortable seating options, and for your entertainment, Roberts Bluetooth radio, Smart tv and dvd/cd player. waterside house campsiteWaterside House Campsite are a working farm and campsite on the shores of stunning Lake Ullswater with access to some of the most beautiful fells in the country. Their location makes it the perfect base for cycling and lovers of everything outdoors! The farmhouse is dated 1694 and is part of a working farm with land covering 279 acres. The farm is home to a flock of Swaledale Ewes, who spend most of their time on the nearby Barton Fell. At certain times of the year you may see the sheep being dipped, sheared or even the birth of a lamb. You will certainly see sheepdogs at work.
